Faster drying – without sacrificing open time.
In this technical webinar, we explore the real drying mechanisms in water-based coatings and how formulation choices can influence both application window and productivity.
The formulation dilemma
Water-based coatings often force formulators to balance:
drying speed
application workability
defect risk
production efficiency
Improving one parameter may negatively impact another. But is this trade-off always unavoidable?
What really happens when coatings dry?
This session explains:
the stages of drying in water-based coatings
the role of evaporation, skin formation and capillary transport
why lab observations do not always reflect real-world drying behaviour
Understanding the mechanism is key to designing better formulations.
What you will learn
How drying behaviour influences productivity
How to extend open time without slowing line speed
How formulation choices affect film formation
Practical insights for dispersion coatings
